INTRODUCTION

In Turkana County, which faces significant challenges related to humanitarian crises, water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), and other emergencies, APaD works with the community through various targeted programs:

  1.  Humanitarian Response: APaD addresses immediate needs during crises, such as food shortages or displacement, by providing emergency relief and support services. This includes distributing essential supplies and offering referral services to vulnerable populations.
  2. WASH Programs: APaD focuses on improving access to clean water, proper sanitation, and hygiene education. This involves constructing and rehabilitating water facilities, promoting hygiene practices, and ensuring that communities have reliable access to safe water sources.
  3. SRHR (sexual and reproductive health rights): APaD integrates SRHR education and services into its broader humanitarian and WASH efforts. By raising awareness, providing access to reproductive health services, and advocating for rights, APaD helps address challenges like early pregnancies and forced marriages.
  4. Community Engagement: APaD collaborates with local leaders and community members to identify needs, tailor interventions, and ensure sustainable solutions. This includes training local volunteers, conducting awareness campaigns, and involving the community in planning and decision-making.

Through these integrated efforts, APaD aims to enhance resilience, improve health outcomes, and promote long-term development in Turkana County.
