Emergencies like Drought are very common in the Arid & Semi – Arid areas like Turkana County and when they strike, both humans and animals are affected. They lead to scarcity of basic needs such as water and food, hence, the coping and adaptation strategies of pastoralists and their animals are threatened, therefore they require humanitarian aid in such situations.
A humanitarian emergency is an event or series of events that represents a critical threat to the health, safety, security or wellbeing of a community or other large group of people, usually over a wide area. The trends associated with natural hazards (Floods and Drought) in Kenya and the wider region of Turkana County always exert additional strain on already vulnerable communities, particularly in disaster-prone locations including the ASAL communities and the situation demands integrated solutions combining immediate responses while strengthening resilience.
A humanitarian emergency erupts when such an event affects vulnerable populations who are unable to withstand the negative consequences by themselves and Our response strategy is designed to react to these emergencies, as well as understanding local resilience and it focuses on assisting the most vulnerable in Both Host and Refugee communities including PWDs, Women, Youth, Elderly and, children, to ensure people's basic needs are met and human rights are protected. Our Humanitarian action response ensures the vulnerable persons’ immediate needs are met, livelihoods restored and they become more resilient to future hazards.
Our Humanitarian action and other emergencies Programs employ various approaches including; Collaborative, Learning, and Adaptation, strengthening collaboration and networking among partners and stakeholders, Community-Based Psychosocial Support, and Strengthen and build local capacities to prepare and respond to emergencies.

•Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene
